The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade)

Austrade works on a range of tourism policy, projects, programs and research to strengthen Australia’s tourism industry and to grow Australia’s tourism market share in a volatile and competitive global environment. There are a range of programs administered by Austrade and more broadly across the Australian Government to assist small businesses, including tourism businesses.

Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS)

The ABS is Australia’s official statistical organisation. It assists and encourages informed decision-making, research and discussion within governments and the community, by providing a high quality, objective and responsive national statistical service.

Australian Taxation Office (ATO)

The ATO is the Federal Government’s main revenue collection agency. Its aim is to manage and shape the revenue systems that sustain social and economic policy and fund services for Australians. Its main role is to administer legislation for taxes, superannuation and excise (but not customs duty) including:

  • income tax including: pay as you go, withholding and instalments
  • the Australian business number and Australian Business Register
  • goods and services tax
  • fringe benefits tax
  • excise duty
  • grants and schemes in relation to diesel and alternative fuels, and
  • superannuation.
