2013 Rugby Championships tickets on sale

Minister for Tourism and Major Events, George Souris, today announced that general public tickets are now on sale for The Castrol EDGE 2013 Rugby Championships.

Now in its second year, The Rugby Championships are contested by Australia, New-Zealand, South Africa and Argentina.     
 
“The Qantas Wallabies will kick off their 2013 campaign at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium in Sydney against arch rivals the All Blacks on Saturday, 17 August and fans should secure their tickets.
 
“The Bledisloe Cup has great history and is always with rugby fans.
 
“Last year, the NSW Government, through our tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, successfully secured the opening game of the Bledisloe Cup Series for Sydney until 2021. 
 
Mr Souris said the Rugby Championships complemented the State’s line-up of major sporting events on the 2013 NSW Events Calendar which not only bring enjoyment and entertainment to people, but also contribute to the economic well-being of the State.
 
Minister for Sport and Recreation, Graham Annesley, said: “with the Lions Tour, two state of origin rugby league matches, World Cup soccer qualifiers and now the Bledisloe Cup, it has been one of the greatest ever football winters ever in NSW.
 
 “This Government is committed to bringing major football and other sporting events to NSW including the Major Baseball League, international surfing, motor sports and top class horse racing”.
 
This Sunday, June 30, Rugby fans in Sydney have the opportunity to meet their heroes at the Wallabies Fan Day to be held at First Fleet Park, Circular Quay from 2:15pm - 4pm. 
 
Fans will be able to meet with the Qantas Wallabies and have a photo taken with their favourite player, as well as the chance to win a 2013 signed Qantas Wallabies jersey, and tickets to the Qantas Wallabies v British & Irish Lions final Test match, at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium on Saturday, July 6.
