Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said the ARIA Awards and ARIA Week are flagship events on the Australian music calendar and their continued presence in Sydney would provide a significant boost to the visitor economy.
“The NSW Government’s continued support of the ARIA Awards and ARIA Week will ensure these flagship music events remain in Sydney for the next three years to 2020,” Mr Marshall said.
“Broadcast nationally and into Asia, the ARIA Awards and ARIA Week showcase our Harbour City and its world class performance venues at their best, helping to attract visitors from across Australia and the world.
“These iconic events will provide a significant boost to the State’s visitor economy while cementing Sydney’s reputation as the nation’s music capital and a leading creative services hub in the Asia Pacific.”
Minister for the Arts Don Harwin said the ARIA Awards and ARIA Week were unmissable events and testament to the strength of Australian home-grown talent.
“Every year the ARIA Awards offer Australian music fans and artists a truly unique and memorable experience, showing off the best of Australia talent to the rest of the world,” Mr Harwin said.
ARIA Chief Executive Officer Dan Rosen said he welcomed ongoing support from the NSW Government.
“The ARIA Awards and ARIA Week have become a global event and a great reflection of how our Aussie artists are conquering the world. We look forward to continuing to work with the NSW Government to further cement the ARIAs on the international music calendar.”
