Building stronger alliances and fostering partnership collaboration between the NSW Government and key airline and travel trade partners will be the focus of Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall’s upcoming overseas mission to Malaysia and Singapore.
3 October 2018Mr Marshall will embark on a three-day mission this week, holding meetings with senior executives from AirAsiaX, Malaysia Airlines, Scoot and Singapore Airlines.
“South East Asia is an extremely important market for us, so the opportunity to meet with some of Malaysia and Singapore’s leaders in travel is critical in maintaining our strong relationship and continuing to attract international visitors to Sydney and regional NSW,” Mr Marshall said.
“The NSW Government recently announced new tourism targets which include tripling overnight visitor expenditure to NSW by 2030 and by reinforcing our State’s reputation as a strong, stable and growing economy through meeting with key industry stakeholders, we are contributing to that goal.”
During his mission in Singapore, the Minister will support negotiations with key trade partners and Business Events Sydney at meetings with key corporate decision-makers considering Sydney for their global meetings.
“We are committed to making sure Sydney and NSW are on the map for international delegates and that means securing more global business meetings and events for our Harbour City, helping to deliver greater economic and social benefits to all of NSW.”
The Minister will also host a dinner for key Singapore and hospitality and tourism investors where he will provide an update on NSW’s new tourism blueprint, the Visitor Economy Industry Action Plan 2030 and discuss investment opportunities for the Western Sydney Aerotropolis and the recent developments for Western Sydney Airport.
In the year ended March 2018, NSW welcomed 208,000 visitors from Malaysia and Singapore, who spent a combined $443 million at our hotels, shops and tourist attractions.
The Minister leaves Sydney on Wednesday 3 October and returns on Sunday 7 October 2018.
