The symbolic lighting at 6.10pm from below the northern pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge at Luna Park,  was part of Vivid Sydney 2013 and an opportunity to wish the NSW Blues a successful campaign in the State of Origin series beginning on Wednesday at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium.

“The NSW Government, through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, has secured two games for Sydney this year, and another five until 2017,” Mr Souris said.

“Ensuring NSW has secured its fair share of State of Origin games up to 2017 will guarantee that the State’s great facilities and unique attractions will be showcased to rugby league fans.”

“NSW will be looking to end seven years of Queensland dominance when they take the field at ANZ Stadium and I wish them the best of luck. We need to get behind Captain Paul Gallen and coach Laurie Daley and cheer the Blues on”.

Destination NSW CEO Sandra Chipchase said: “NSW is the home of major events in Australia - and nothing beats State of Origin.”

“Fans coming to Sydney will be able to see the biggest rugby league event in Australia and enjoy the other attractions, including our outstanding food, wine and hospitality that NSW has to offer.”

The Sydney Harbour Bridge interactive light display is made possible through collaboration between Intel and Sydney-based light work innovators 32 Hundred Lighting. The Bridge installation is one of the highlights of Vivid Sydney 2013, utilising 100,800 individual programmable LEDs and a state-of-the-art custom-designed software program.
