Summer Sounds
27 January 2018, Bermagui
First trialled in 2017, Summer Sounds is an afternoon music festival designed to encourage visitors to extend holidays on the far south coast to the last weekend of the school holidays. The event showcases local and NSW alt-folk singer-songwriters artists and new collaborations and in 2018 culminates with headliner, The Strides. Held at the beautiful Four Winds bushland venue, event patrons will experience great music in a natural setting.
ARTHC Tractor Pull, Swap Meet, Truck Show & Shine & Lawnmower Racing Display
24 February 2018, Gundagai
Held at the Gundagai Showgrounds, the event features vintage and ladies tractor pulls, vintage machinery and stationary engine displays, 4WD ute pulls, truck show ‘n’ shine, swap and market stalls, mower races, heavy horse events and kids’ amusements. ARTHC volunteers will provide Saturday morning breakfast, an all day BBQ and coffee and cold drinks. Activities and displays will run throughout the day.
River Daze - Music, Wine, Food
3 March 2018, Barham
River Daze is a music, wine and food event under historic red gums on the banks of the Murray River at Barham. The first event in March 2017 attracted 862 people in a town of 1,150 inhabitants and drew people together to celebrate what the region has to offer. A line up of diverse bands is supported by roving entertainment and cooking demonstrations, free kids and family activities together with food, wine, beer and a selection of the area’s popular produce.

Queanbeyan ‘Be Here’ Festival
3 - 4 March 2018, Queanbeyan
The Queanbeyan Be Here Festival encompasses the character of the Queanbeyan region over two days. The weekend begins on Saturday as Queen Elizabeth II Park comes alive with music, food and wine as part of ‘Music by the River’. Sunday will see a celebration of Queanbeyan’s unique multicultural diversity with live entertainment featuring over 20 different cultural acts on the main stage and street food nestled amongst the tall trees. The setting, timing and activities are aimed at encouraging visitors and locals to ‘be here’ in Queanbeyan and see the city as a destination to stay, play and live.
Bungendore Harvest Festival 2018
16 - 18 March 2018, Bungendore
Bungendore Harvest Festival is a celebration of cold-climate food - how it grows, where it grows, where to get it, how to prepare it and how to eat it. From Friday 16 March to Sunday 18 March the region will come alive as the three-day event brings visitors to the region to celebrate the town’s primary produce. Restaurants will create special menus and offer live music, a street festival will bring producers together to offer tastings and demonstrations, and farm, winery and garden trails and tours will be offered to encourage visitors to explore the region.
Goulburn Reader Writer Festival
24 March 2018, Goulburn
The Goulburn Reader Writer Festival is a celebration of all things reading and writing in the Goulburn and surrounding areas and includes a full day of events based at the Goulburn Mulwaree Library. The theme for 2018 is ‘Feed your Mind’ and will bring together food bloggers, magazine publishers and celebrity chefs along with food writers for recipe books, historians and novelists. The festival will present writing, publishing, book-binding and blogging workshops; children’s story-time and craft; author talks; panel discussions; cooking, cocktail and tea demonstrations; and an international food fair with food vans. Stall-holders will be selling self-published books, illustrations, book-related craft and food products.
Rewind the Vines
1 April 2018, Griffith
Rewind in the Vines is a combination of old fashioned music festival and a relaxing day out at De Bortoli’s Bilbul vineyard. The event will feature a headline act from the 1970-1980s era, such as Ross Wilson from Daddy Cool as well as a well-known classics cover band, young up and coming acts and Rewind DJs. In addition to the music, the De Bortoli cellar door will be open all day, factory tours will run throughout the event and there will be a classic cars show ‘n’ shine competition with cash prizes on offer.
Pave the Way to Gular
5 - 8 April 2018, Gulargambone
Pave the Way to Gular is a four-day visual arts event that uses the creation of three-dimensional pavement and wall art to attract visitors to Gulargambone and the broader region. During the event, up to 10 artists will create large-scale artwork on key buildings and locations in the town. Visitors will be encouraged to engage with the artists while they work and other activities such as an art exhibition, street trading and workshops will broaden the event offering. Art trails will also be developed to encourage visitors to explore the region, including Gilgandra, Coonamble and Warren.
Batemans Bay Paddle Challenge
27 - 28 April 2018, Batemans Bay
Batemans Bay Paddle Challenge consists of a series of paddle based events that showcase the pristine waters of the beautiful Clyde River between Batemans Bay and Nelligen. With events and courses at all experience levels, from elite and masters to family groups, the event aims to bring a wide range of new visitors to engage with and explore this part of the South Coast of NSW during a traditionally off-peak season. In addition to the paddling events, the Batemans Bay Paddle Challenge will include a welcome event on the Friday evening and on-shore activities for families and friends of paddlers during Saturday.

Electric Vehicle Expo
4 - 6 May 2018, Inverell
The Gathering of the Geeks is the first national gathering of electric vehicles including cars, motorbikes, drones (agricultural and scientific), solar vehicles, storage devices, robotics generators and school science projects. The event will be held over three days, across three Shires and will include a mini solar challenge run from Moree to Inverell where electric cars and motorcycles will travel over designated routes.

Burradise Festival at Culburra Beach

Culburra Beach is a spiritual, creative and innovative hub in the Shoalhaven region and the Burradise Festival will celebrate the town’s beach, surf and coastal culture through a showcase of the very best locally-made talent, entertainment, arts, music, multicultural food, culture, products and produce. The Burradise Festival is designed to attract new and repeat visitors to Culburra Beach by providing them with a three-day program of events and activities that everyone will enjoy across three community festival hub spaces.
Bathurst Heritage Trades Trail
12 - 13 May 2018, Bathurst
The Bathurst Heritage Trades Trail is a self-guided cultural and educational journey around five heritage sites in Bathurst. It coincides with the annual Heritage Week and, through collaborations between non-profit groups and a number of artisan tradespeople, brings the site to life through showcasing artisans practising rare trades (agriculture and farm, restoration and building, convict women’s contribution, Aboriginal culture), demonstrations and exhibitions which commemorate Bathurst’s cultural, agricultural and built heritage.
Hello Koalas Festival
7 – 11 June 2018, Port Macquarie
The Hello Koalas Festival is the world’s first festival celebrating Australia’s iconic koala. The festival is a new annual cultural tourism event for the Port Macquarie-Hastings region, which has the largest koala population on the east coast of Australia, is home to the acclaimed Koala Hospital and boasts the Hello Koalas Sculpture Trail as a cultural tourism attraction. The Hello Koalas Festival utilises the 60 sculptures on the Hello Koalas Sculpture Trail to engage visitors and the community in a range of unique cultural, educational and fun experiences through a program that includes exhibitions, theatre performances, a concert, music and singing, a poetry slam, Aboriginal dance and storytelling, environmental talks and workshops, artist markets, art making, family competitions and digital games.
KLC Country Gold
8 – 10 June 2018, Kiama
KLC (Kiama Loves Country) Country Gold brings Australia’s best country music and artists to Kiama for a weekend of music, country food, competitions, a family fair, poetry and song writing workshops. The festival is designed to encourage tourism and bring the community together to embrace its heritage and local surrounds. The event will embrace the talents of Kiama’s local youth and celebrate musicians, poets, artists, wood chopping, machinery and farming displays, horse riding and cooking.
Harvest Festival
9 – 10 June 2018, Mangrove Mountain & Peats Ridge
The Harvest Trail Festival was developed by Central Coast Council, in partnership with the Central Coast Plateau Chamber of Commerce, to leverage the Harvest Trail farm gate tour on Tourist Route 33 which traverses the Hunter Valley from Calga to Branxton. The festival is a weekend celebration of the local produce from the region, with a focus on the start of the citrus season in early June. The festival program is designed to guide attendees along the Harvest Trail, encouraging visitation at multiple local farms which will have activations available at each location, culminating in a major event on the Sunday.
Gemorama
9 – 11 June 2018, Emmadale
Gemorama is a gem festival featuring traders, tailgaters and field trips. It will be run for charity with the local SES, Glen Food Hub and Frontline Forces United the beneficiaries. A spit roast will be served on the Saturday and Sunday nights with singers or bands providing entertainment.
Pie Fest
23 – 24 June 2018, Bowral
In 2017 Destination Southern Highlands (DSH) developed a Pie Trail and built on this initiative with a destination marketing campaign for the region called ‘Pie Time’ which ran throughout June. The Pie Time calendar wrapped up with a three-day Best Pie Competition, with seven categories open to professional bakers, home bakers, apprentices and community groups to seek the best pies in NSW. Following the competition, a two-day Pie Festival is held at the iconic Bong Bong Racecourse. Here, visitors are able to taste, purchase and enjoy a pie, vote for their favourite pie in the “People’s Choice” award and enjoy pie throwing competitions, pie eating competitions, cooking demonstrations, entertainment and family fun.

Elephant Trail Race
20 – 22 July 2018, Port Macquarie
The Elephant Trail Race is a picturesque trail run throughout the beautiful Cairncross State Forest in the hinterland of Port Macquarie. Athletes have the option of 160km, 100km, 50km or 25km races in laps of a hidden 25km course with 1,200m of elevation using tracks, trails and creek beds. There is also a 13km course and a Kids Trail Race for younger runners.
Chill n Glen
21 – 22 July 2018, Glen Innes
Chill n Glen showcases the beauty of the Glen Innes winter landscape and highlights the community’s significant heritage buildings and renewable energy developments. The event provides an authentic cold weather experience, layering the European overtones of cold weather and hot food onto the culture of a genuine Australian country town. Authentic European festivities, including food and markets, displays and performance combine with steaming traditional Christmas dinners and an old fashioned bonfire and crackers.
Winter Fire Festival
3 – 5 August 2018, Orange
The Orange Winter Fire Festival is based on the Australian ‘cracker night’ bonfire tradition. The festival is a series of bonfires hosted at several wineries, cellar doors and orchards where visitors will be encouraged to rug up to enjoy the region’s expansive starry night skies. Food will be produced and served from open fire pits, BBQ spits and mobile wood fire ovens and gourmet food trucks will serve char-grilled feasts and mulled wines. The Winter Fire Festival offers broad appeal and celebrates the region’s naturally magnificent landscapes, its broad open night skies and its wine tourism industry. A night market held in the historic village of Millthorpe will be included as a festival fringe event to broaden the event footprint and encourage weekend visitors.

The O’Heart Festival
17 – 19 August 2018, Tyalgum
The O’Heart Festival is a three-day, conscious living indie folk festival held in the village of Tyalgum. This festival is deeply rooted in environmental awareness, including alternative energy technologies and sustainability education and solutions, wellness and conscious living, and quality live music. Set in the foothills of Wollumbin, Mount Warning the event will offer yoga workshops, singing workshops, breathing, movement and sound workshops, environmental awareness talks, demonstrations and films, an eco-fashion parade, a variety of market stalls, and music performances on a variety of stages throughout the village.
Sculpture on Clyde
24 August – 2 September 2018, Batemans Bay
Sculpture on Clyde is a 10-day cultural tourism event showcasing world class sculpture works from Australia and overseas in a gateway precinct along the shore of the Clyde River in Batemans Bay. Artists are invited to exhibit their works in a magnificent ocean front setting. In its inaugural year in 2017, 71 sculptural pieces were exhibited. ANU School of Arts assists with curating and judging and offers a prestigious artist’s residency award. The aim of the event is to promote Bateman’s Bay natural assets and connect visitors to local business in the Batemans Bay CBD area to grow the local visitor economy during the off-peak season.
Tamworth Festival of Cycling
1 – 2 September 2018, Tamworth
The Tamworth Festival of Cycling will celebrate cycling and feature a program of events with something to suit cyclists at every level. The event seeks to recreate the atmosphere of a European Cycling event in Tamworth and will include a multi-discipline (mountain bike, road bike and running) hill climb event at the scenic Oxley Lookout, a criterium event in the heart of the CBD, a road race and a mass participation ‘Gran Fondo’ ride.
Peter Allen Festival
7 – 9 September 2018, Tenterfield
The Peter Allen Festival is a showcase of the heritage of Tenterfield, and how Peter Allen and his family influenced the region. The festival is focused on sustainability and economic benefit for the community and will be largely community-run. The aim of the festival is to celebrate the life, love and passion of Peter Allen, as well as his influence over the Australian Performing Arts Industry. It will include songwriting, music, dance, theatre, performance, instruments, singing and comedy, workshops, history and heritage – bringing to life the story of Tenterfield and Peter Allen. A number of workshops will be held in the lead-up to the two-and-a-half-day festival.
Best Kept Secret presents Gaolbreak

Best Kept Secret presents Gaolbreak is a music event that features modern Australian music in a unique outdoor setting. A line-up of artists with a connection to Dubbo are presented in the iconic Old Dubbo Gaol. The 2018 event will have a Country music theme with artists such as Mickey Pye, Benn Gunn and Blake O’Connor.
End 2 End Festival
15 September 2018, Pokolbin
Designed to showcase the unique Hunter Valley Wine Country experiences that the Parish of Pokolbin has and shine a spotlight on Pokolbin as a region, the End 2 End Festival is an event featuring music and wine events at four of the Parish’s wineries: The Oakes Cypress Lakes Resort, McLeish Estate, Ben Ean and Drayton’s Family Wines. Each venue will present activities such as celebrity chefs, cooking masterclasses, food, wine and beer tastings and much more to a backdrop of different musical styles. This ticketed event will offer a shuttle bus service between the venues to ensure visitors can enjoy all the offerings during the afternoon.
Grazing Down the Lachlan

Following the success of its inaugural year, Grazing Down the Lachlan returns to the banks of the Lachlan River. The main event continues to be a degustation lunch spread over seven food stations embedded in a quintessential western landscape. Under the creative direction of Mark Olive, Australia’s most renowned Indigenous Chef, the food and beverage will be a sophisticated fusion of both locally farmed produce and foraged native foods. New activities include a Q&A with the creative director, local farmers and others in the iconic Forbes Town Hall and a main street breakfast.
Giiyong Festival

In September 2018 Jigamy Farm will host the Giiyong Festival to showcase and celebrate Aboriginal traditional and contemporary culture. The festival will highlight local Aboriginal culture and the story of the Bundian Way, through visual arts, dance, music, film, performance, presentations and storytelling. The festival will aim to bring people together, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, to participate in the celebration of Aboriginal culture and the shared histories of the region and the nation.
Sculpture on the Farm
28 September – 1 October 2018, Dungog
The inaugural Sculpture on the Farm is a four-day not-for-profit exhibition of sculptors’ works, from across New South Wales and beyond, in a Williams River Valley farm location just outside Dungog. Both indoor and outdoor sculptures will be displayed for sale in garden and rural settings and a professionally presented gallery space. Held as a partner event of the Dungog Festival, which celebrates the arts, local food and rural life, Sculpture at the Farm will attract artists and enthusiasts to stay the weekend in this beautiful rural location. The event is committed to engaging with sculptors, the local community of Dungog and the Hunter, as well as the broader Australian community, to encourage participation in and understanding of the arts.
Brunswick Nature Sculpture Walk

The Brunswick Nature Sculpture Walk is a triennial event presented along the foreshore of Brunswick Heads, where the river meets the sea. Nationally recognised artists explore sculpture, site-specific and installation art that focus on themes such as nature, the endangered environment and sustainability with the aim of raising awareness of these themes and connecting the community and visitors to art and nature.

Eat Street Yamba
30 September 2018, Yamba
Eat Street Yamba is a five-hour international food market held on the first day of daylight savings that lasts into the evening twilight. The main street of Yamba is turned into a food precinct where visitors can enjoy locally crafted beer and wine, delicious locally sourced produce and listen to the sounds of the band. The inaugural event in 2017 attracted almost 6,000 people and will be expanded in 2018 to include local restaurateurs, cafes and shops.

Illawarra Festival of Wood
12 – 14 October 2018, Wollongong
The Illawarra Festival of Wood is a three-day event held at Bulli Showground that preserves and promotes the traditions of working with wood. This is the second year the festival has been held and it provides an opportunity for local makers to showcase their work and inspire an appreciation of timber and timber products. From simple possum-box making to intricately carved pieces the festival will demonstrate not only a wide variety of ways of working with wood, but also feature the unique properties of trees and their timber. The festival is a fun family day including workshops, demonstrations, activities and gourmet food.
National Cool Climate Wine Festival
13 October 2018, Bathurst
The National Cool Climate Wine Festival is a collaboration between the National Cool Climate Wine Show (an existing competition that has run for the last 19 years), Bathurst Regional Vigneron Association (BRVA) and Mayfield Garden. The overall goal of the collaboration is to attract people from far and wide, via a series of events over a one-week period, to celebrate the best of local food, craft beer, music, art but most of all wine. The first festival was held in 2017 at Mayfield Garden and attracted 800 people. The event featured nine local vineyards, a local brewery and five local food producers together with live entertainment from four local bands and Circus Surreal.

Cotton Capital Country Music Muster
20 – 21 October 2018, Wee Waa
The Cotton Capital Country Music Muster is a weekend country music festival designed to showcase the small town of Wee Waa to the wider community. The 2018 festival, to be held at the Wee Waa Showgrounds, will be headlined by Beccy Cole who is hosting a travelling group of nearly 40 caravans and campers. In addition to the main concert, the festival will feature a full weekend of activities including a talent quest, market stalls, a ‘caravan Olympics’, a bush poet’s breakfast and a traditional camp oven dinner.

Outlandish Outlander Fan Gathering
20 – 21 October 2018, Glen Innes
The Outlandish Outlander Fan Gathering is a two day event celebrating the television series, Outlander, which will bring Australian and international visitors to the Glen Innes Highlands. The weekend begins at dawn with a Lantern Dance, a feature of the series. Fans will then enjoy a range of entertainment, workshops and activities, including a traditional wedding for a lucky competition-winning couple, a cast look-alike competition, a renewal of vows in a Stone Circle and a feast at a venue transformed into one of the locations from the series. Special guest appearances from cast members are also planned.
Sand N Sea Festival
26 – 28 October 2018, Huskisson
The South Coast of NSW will come alive in October 2018 when Jervis Bay plays host to the inaugural Sand and Sea Festival, a three-day multisport event that will showcase the natural beauty of Huskisson’s beaches, waterways and parks. Catering for all abilities, the event will feature competition, recreation, clinics and exhibitors showcasing stand-up paddle boarding, wind surfing, kite surfing, ocean paddling and Hydrothon with beach netball for the land lovers. The event will be conducted in collaboration with relevant State sporting organisations to ensure the highest levels of competition, safety and technical management.
Celebrating our Heritage
27 – 28 October 2018, Delegate
Celebrating our Heritage is a new event that celebrates 30 years since the refurbishment and opening of the early settlers hut in Delegate, together with remembrance of the return of the soldiers of the Snowy River Marches from World War 1. The event will comprise a church service, commemorative march, plaque unveiling, markets, food events and a duck race.
Energy Innovation & Mining Expo
1 – 3 November 2018, Gunnedah
The Energy, Innovation & Mining Expo will bring together exhibitors from the energy, innovation and mining sectors over three days to showcase and demonstrate the latest technology and equipment. Indoor and outdoor exhibitor sites will enable visitors to learn more about the industries involved, the complex issues around the coexistence of agriculture and mining, innovative companies and their products and the latest renewable energy developments. There will be accompanying breakfasts and dinners, seminars, workshops and debates with experts from a wide range of fields, along with a Community Day on the Saturday for all the family.

Woolgoolga Blues & Berries Community Fair

The Bay Games
10 – 11 November 2018, Huskisson
The Bay Games aspires to be NSW’s premier functional fitness festival, attracting the fittest everyday athletes and teams from around the country to Jervis Bay to showcase the dedication required to compete against the most determined weekend warriors. After a successful first year in 2017, the organisers are encouraged by the huge growth potential it offers and are expanding to a two-day event format. The Bay Games is a unique and entertaining blend of water and land-based cross-fit style sports events that showcase the beauty of Jervis Bay and will appeal to athletes and their families.
National Indigenous Touch Football Knockout
14 – 16 November 2018, Dubbo
Created to assist with promoting a healthy lifestyle for kids and adults, the National Indigenous Touch Football Knockout is the first event of its kind on a national level. First held in 2017, it attracted 22 teams for the two day event. In 2018 the Knockout will be expanded to a 3-day event that includes kids’ teams as well as adult. With support from Australian Touch and NSW Touch the organisers hope to attract more participating teams from all over Australia.

Legends of League Tournament
15 – 17 November 2018, Gosford
The Legends of League Tournament celebrates “Old School” Rugby League where six teams of former “Legends” play for $100,000 in prizemoney at Central Coast Stadium. Staged in a round robin format the Legends of League showcases the talent and skill of these celebrated players over six hours of action. In 2018, the competing teams are Brisbane, Parramatta, Canterbury, Newcastle, Manly and the Barbarians. The 2018 Legends event showcases a week of rugby league celebrations that kick off with a Legends Golf Day(Thurs), followed by the Official Legends Lunch on Friday prior to the Tournament kicking off at 12 noon on Saturday.
Dungog Region Arts & Culture Trail
23 – 25 November 2018, Dungog and surrounds
Dungog Region Arts and Culture Trail is a three-day event where local galleries, art studios, antique stores, museums, cultural organisations and community groups open their doors to provide the best experience of Dungog Shire’s arts and cultural scene. The Trail will have entry points in the neighbouring council areas of Maitland and Mid Coast, with both Maitland Regional Art Gallery and Gloucester Gallery taking part, before traveling to villages such as Paterson, Vacy, Gresford and Salisbury. The Trail gives visitors the opportunity to take their time to explore and experience the region and will encourage overnight stays.

Jazz in the Vineyards

Jazz in the Vineyards will be held for the first time at Hope Estate in the Hunter Valley NSW in 2018. A celebration of food, wine and jazz, Jazz in the Vineyards will feature international jazz great, James Morrison, with supporting acts to be announced. Held under the stars in a magnificent outdoor amphitheatre, visitors can reserve a seat or sit in the picnic area. Jazz in the Vineyards has been created to fill the gap left by the former Jazz in the Vines which was discontinued in 2016. The new organisers, who have presented Opera in the Vineyards for the last 20 years, aim to build Jazz in the Vineyards into another hallmark annual event for the Hunter Valley.
Perricoota Pop & Pour Festival

Discover the charms of the boutique Perricoota wine region at the Perricoota Pop & Pour Festival, a unique touring experience combining the best of the region’s food and wine, at unique Murray River venues. Visitors will be shuttled between seven venues and have the opportunity to cruise the Murray River on board a historic paddle steamer, soak up the rural charm of the region’s most established winery, enjoy architecture from yesteryear on the banks of the river or embrace the contemporary vibes of the regions newest establishments.
Perfect Light Film Festival
30 November – 2 December 2018, Broken Hill
The Perfect Light Film Festival (PLFF) is a free annual short film festival held in Broken Hill. It earmarks the city as an arts and tourism destination and provides a platform for local and national talent to showcase their films, engaging the local community in the arts. It is hoped that the festival will grow into a major tourism drawcard, an iconic, ‘must-attend’ event for interstate and international visitors. The festival’s advisory board includes Fred Schepisi OAM, director of films such as The Chant of Jimmy Blacksmith and A Cry in the Dark.

Great Australian Beer Festival
1 December 2018, Albury
The Great Australian Beer Festival (GABF) showcases 25 breweries (12 of them from within 150km), 10 local restaurants/food trucks and a variety of local and national performers. The inaugural GABF Albury event in 2017 at QE2 Square was a resounding success with around 2700 patrons. This event is the sister event of the Great Australian Beer Festival in Geelong, which has been running successfully for six years.
Jetblack Wild Wombat MTB Challenge

The Jetblack Wild Wombat MTB Challenge is a new 12-hour endurance mountain bike event, aimed at the ’experience seeker‘, to be held at a new MTB track at Deep Creek in Mogo, currently being developed by Eurobodalla Shire Council. Offering solo and team categories, the event will also feature a unique ‘quick-race‘ option where riders can complete a 2-3 hour ’taste‘ of the full event at any point within the 12 hours. This will give riders the flexibility to explore the region with family and friends and still participate in the race at a time that suits them.
Formula 1.0 Gliding Grand Prix

The Formula 1.0 Gliding Grand Prix is a new gliding competition bringing the growing sport of gliding into the 21st century. Held over 11 days, the annual competition brings pilots from across Australia and the world to Brobenah Airfield, Leeton for a series of races. The Formula 1.0 is a family and spectator-friendly event, starting and finishing over the airfield with cutting-edge technology employed to ensure a great experience for those on the ground.
